Why SeNSE ?

M. Tech in Instrument Technology is an interdisciplinary program offered by the centre. It is a unique amalgamation of three major disciplines; Mechanical and Mechatronics, Electronics/ Electrical and Optical Engineering. This course is one of it’s kind in India in which all the three disciplines come together to develop a sensor/instrument/a system with great industrial and medical relevance.

The rigorous selection process to the M.Tech program at SeNSE involves shortlisting and interview of the applicants. Shortlisting criteria covers both, the overall performance of the applicants in preceding degree course and also the score obtained in GATE examination conducted by IITs and IISc. The shortlisted candidates are interviewed by the panel of faculty members working in the interdisciplinary areas of Mechanical and Mechatronics, Electrical/ Electronics and Optical Engineering. This helps in selecting the meritorious candidates with strong foundation in their core disciplines along with an interdisciplinary blend of mind. The students are suitably groomed by the faculty at the centre in this two year program to make them ready for solving industrial and research problems.

The centre is actively involved in solving Industrial and R&D Problems. The sponsored R&D projects in different application fields such as defense, space, industry and healthcare, provides unique and conducive environment to the youngsters to apply the subject knowledge in practice. National and international collaborations also give them the required exposure to work with team spirit. The link here, give a glimpse of some of the R&D projects undertaken by the center.
